NEWS FROM THE Y

Prairie View Preschool

Registration is ongoing

The Y offers two great locations for your child to prepare to reach their potential. Join us at our La Porte Y branch and at Prairie View Elementary School for these amazing classes. We are so much more than a gym!

4 & 5 year old classes

This is a kindergarten readiness program which will focus on number recognition, ABC’s, some easy reading and math skills, music & art projects. The children will have visits from the La Porte County Library, some educational field trips, gym time & depending on which preschool your child attends will learn some French or Spanish. Your child will also work on improving their social skills, listening and gross and fine motor skills, and also make new friends along the way. Classes held 8:45-11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The fee is $80 per month for members and $105 per month for non-members.         
(plus a $40 registration fee)
3 year old classes

Your child will work with numbers, letters, music, arts & crafts, gross & fine motor skills. Children must be potty trained. The children will have visits from the La Porte County Library, some educational field trips, gym time and depending on which preschool your child attends, will be presented French or Spanish. Your child will also work on improving their social skills, listening and gross and fine motor skills, and also make new friends along the way. Classes held from 8:45-11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

The fee is $65 per month for members and $85 per month for non-members.  
(plus a $40 registration fee)  
Summer Early Learning Academy

Our Summer Early Learning Academy program helps children learn the essential skills they’ll need for the kindergarten school year. With a wide variety of activities to stimulate your child’s creativity, self-esteem and independence, our learning based curriculum is the ultimate  preparation tool. Our trained, supportive staff strive to ensure that each child has the best possible start for a lifetime of learning. Classes start summer 2014. This year we will be offering three, 2-week sessions.  Maximum enrollment for each session in 18 and we will need at least 8 enrolled to have the session.

The fee is $40 per session for members and $60 per session for non-members.
(plus a $20 registration fee)

Session #1 (June 9-June 20): Barnyard Palooza

Session #2 (July 7-July 18): Destination Outer Space

Session #3 (August 4-August 15): Under the Ocean
