Wellness Classes

CROSSFIT BOOT CAMP(60 minutes) (Intermediate) — A total sweat-a-thon! Get ready to be pushed to new limits that will help you reach the fitness potential you have always desired. Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Long Beach Branch. Inquire for pricing.

FAMILY BOOT CAMP(60 minutes)- This class is meant for the whole family to get a great workout. Get ready to be pushed to new limits while instructors offer up a variety of great exercises. For ages 3rd grade and up. 

CARDIO KICKBOXING (60 minutes) — This class will keep you moving from beginning until end. Expect traditional kickboxing moves to give you an extreme cardiovascular workout.

EXTREME CUT (60 minutes) (Advanced) — An advance version of the classic Powercut class. Come ready to get STRONG! We focus on gaining strength through classic free weight principles. 

BODY SCULPTING (60 minutes) (Intermediate) — Sculpt and tone your body using bands, balls, steps and weights.

BUTT & GUT (60 minutes) (Intermediate) — A dynamic summer time workout that works those hard to tone areas, tailored to participants of all levels. This class incorporates more low impact aerobics and a variety of resistance equipment which targets the gluteal, abdominal and oblique muscle groups with exercise designed to firm and tone. Come moan and groan with us!

PILATES (60 minutes) (Beginner) — A low impact, total body workout that tones, improves balance and muscle control. Each exercise is designed to open joints and improve breathing. Workout accommodates all levels of fitness. Don’t miss this incredible class!

POWER AEROBICS (60 minutes) (Beginner/Intermediate) — Format includes power walking, low impact aerobics, step and floor work. Each day it changes to keep your body guessing to deliver the maximum workout.

POWER CIRCUIT (60 minutes) (Intermediate) — This dynamic full body workout alternates cardiovascular with muscular endurance stations to offer you the complete package. A variety of gadgets will be incorporated to make every session different, such as resistance bands, steps, free weights, barbells, medicine and balance balls.

POWERCUT (60 minutes) (Intermediate) — This is an innovative way to train using barbells to the latest music. This powerful workout provides total body conditioning.

TOTAL STEP (60 minutes) (Beginner) — Pure step aerobics taught with the beginner in mind. Give this fun cardio class it a try!

Y-CYCLING (60 minutes) (Intermediate) — Come try the hottest group exercise format in the country!  Indoor group cycling is an exercise class on specifically-designed fixed-gear bicycles. These classes provide fun, camaraderie, sweat and lots of motivation! Our Spinning® certified instructors will guide you through an exciting and challenging workout. Because participants control their own intensity level, group cycling is great for people of any fitness level. Get ready to pedal your way into shape!

YOGA (60 minutes)— Complete your fitness with mind/body work. Hatha Yoga is taught in a non-intimidating way.This class calms, strengthens, improves balance and increases flexibility.

PARENTAL PILATES/YOGA (60 minutes)— Designed to help participants experience a peaceful and healthy pregnancy.This class helps strengthen core and pelvic muscles, improve posture, exercise the spine, and teach mindful breathing techniques. 

BEGINNER'S YOGA (60 minutes) (Beginner) — Nourish your mind and body through Hatha Yoga. This class introduces beginner participants to basic Yoga postures and helps more advanced participants strengthen, improve balance, increase flexibility, and calm their whole system.

ZUMBA (60 minutes) (Beginner/Intermediate) — This high-energy class is a fusion of Latin and international music that combines unique dance moves to create a dynamic and exciting workout. It is a mixture of body-sculpting movements with easy-to-follow dance steps that  maximizes fat burning and total body toning. Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

ZUMBATOMIC (60 minutes) (Beginner/Intermediate) — For kids ages 8-12, this Zumba class is taught to Latin and international dance music that gets kids moving with fun, easy-to-follow dance moves. This class is a great way for kids to stay fit, and meet friends!

Personal Training

Whether your age 13 or 75, an experienced or beginning exerciser, our certified personal trainers can help you reach your health and fitness goals. Your trainer will develop a personalized program that is perfect for you and will support you with coaching and motivation to help you live, look and feel better.

Personal training is available for $30 per hour sessions. Packages of five sessions for $125 or 10 sessions for $250 are also available. All trainers are certified. Please pay for the session at the Member Services Desk and you will be called to schedule your appointment. Wear loose fitting clothes and athletic 

Runner's Club (April 22-June 21)

Come Run with us in the great outdoors and enjoy success, camaraderie, and satisfaction! Whether you are just starting out or have been running for years there is a spot for you in our Runner's Club. We will meet at the La Porte County Family YMCA Branch and run routes all around the city and various other locations. This 8 week program will be sure to help you achieve your running and fitness goals!

Fees:      $30 Members / $40 Non-Members

Tae Kwon Do (For Adults & Children, Ages 6 and Up)

This program is run by Black Belts Jerry and Mary Crosslin, who have conducted the YMCA’s martial arts program since 1993. Their outstanding program is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. (beginners) and 6 p.m. (advanced). Jerry and Mary have instructed the Korean art for over two decades. Jerry owns a 5th-Degree Black Belt and Mary has reached the rank of 3rd-Degree Black Belt. The program honors existing ranks and no contracts are required. The class meets from 5-6 p.m. for beginners or from 6-7 p.m. for advanced.

Seaweed/Tumbleweed

This is a great combination of Skipper swimming lessons followed by a Tumbling class. Each component is a half-hour long. The program, begins in the pool (9:00 - 9:30 a.m.) for games, songs, beginning instructional swim and safety. Then the activities move up to the gym (9:45-10:15 a.m.) for somersaults, animal walks, tunnels, trampolines and scooter boards. F-U-N!

Ages:     1 - 3 years old

Home School Swim & Gym (For Boys & Girls, Ages 5-12)

This program, which resumes in the Fall I session, provides the opportunity to get your child moving and enjoying physical activity. Children will have an open swim time under the supervision of trained lifeguards and then participate in organized games run by our Sports Department staff. The class meets on Thursdays and runs for seven weeks. Participants have open swim time from 1:35-2:20 p.m. and organized games in the gym run from 2:30-3:15 p.m.
