WE ARE WAIVING THE JOINER FEE FOR ALL NEW SIGN UPS TODAY! Our Joiner Fee is normally $75 for a new family membership, $50 for a new adult membership and $25 for either a new youth or college membership. Now is the time to join...

WEATHER UPDATE: All locations of the La Porte County Family YMCA (La Porte, Long Beach, and Childcare and Learning Center) will be open for business Wednesday, January 8th with regular operating hours. All programs INCLUDING SWIM LESSONS will be running tomorrow unless noted below. We are excited to see everyone tomorrow but we caution everyone to use extra care when traveling, roads are very icy and slippery.

Due to school closures, the following programs will NOT be operating:
-No Michigan City Educare due to MCAS school closure
-No Rolling Prairie before and after school care or Prairie View Preschool due to New Prairie United School Corporation closure
-No La Porte branch preschool due to La Porte Community School Corporation closure
-No Westville after school care due to Westville School Corporation closure

WE WILL HAVE SNOW DAY OUT CAMP FROM 6:30 AM TO 6:00 PM FOR ALL ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN. $20 FOR MEMBERS, $30 FOR NON-MEMBERS. BRING SACK LUNCH, SWIMSUIT AND TOWEL. REGISTER AT THE MEMBER SERVICES DESK.

WE WILL HAVE ALL SCHEDULED SWIM LESSONS TOMORROW. IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED YOUR CHILD UP FOR LESSONS YET, YOU CAN STILL DO SO WITHOUT A LATE FEE.

IF YOU STILL NEED TO REGISTER FOR LITTLE DRIBBLERS OR OTHER YOUTH PROGRAMS, INCLUDING BASKETBALL, YOU CAN STILL DO THAT WITHOUT A LATE FEE.

As a thank you for your patience and understanding during our closures due to this polar vortex, we will also be waiving joiner fee for any new memberships tomorrow, January 8th!

Let's start 2014 off being active in the snow! Join us for snow shoeing/cross country skiing at our beautiful Andrew Avenue Outdoor Education & Recreation Facility tomorrow (Wed) at 11 AM & Thurs. at 6:30 PM. Program Director, Kayla Scelfo will be on hand to give free demonstrations and to guide participants through wooded trails & 8.5 acres of untouched snow. Everyone must bring their own equipment. FREE & OPEN TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY!

As our county continues to be operating under a state of emergency and we have a travel warning issued from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, ALL LOCATIONS OF THE LA PORTE COUNTY FAMILY YMCA (La Porte, Long Beach, Childcare and Learning Center and all school sites) WILL REMAIN CLOSED TUESDAY, JANUARY 7TH. Please check back to Facebook and twitter for further updates. Thank you and please take care when venturing outside.

ALL LOCATIONS OF THE LA PORTE COUNTY FAMILY YMCA WILL BE CLOSED ALL DAY MONDAY, JANUARY 6TH. THAT INCLUDES THE LA PORTE & LONG BEACH BRANCHES AND OUR CHILDCARE AND LEARNING CENTER. PLEASE CHECK BACK TO FACEBOOK AND OUR WEBSITE FOR FURTHER UPDATES. PLEASE BE SAFE AND REMAIN INDOORS. 

La Porte County is now operating under a travel warning which is the highest level of local travel advisory and means that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only. During a "warning" local travel advisory, individuals are directed to:
(A) refrain from all travel;
(B) comply with necessary emergency measures;
(C) cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans; and
(D) obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.

Due to the impending storm this afternoon, the Long Beach and La Porte branches will be closed today for the safety of our staff and members. No decision has been made regarding if the Y will be open tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day and evening and will post weather related updates on Facebook and our website (www.lpymca.org) as needed. Everyone, please be safe today and remain indoors if possible.
