Activities
Activities include swimming, canoeing, archery, ropes course, sports, building forts, arts & crafts, games and much more.

Swimming: All campers have swimming scheduled in the YMCA’s indoor pool twice each week. All children are given a pre-test to determine swim ability and the scheduled swim time is “free play.”

Canoeing: Canoeing is done once each week. Older campers are instructed on proper canoeing techniques prior to participation. Younger campers are given canoe rides by our staff. Lifejackets are mandatory for all and there is a lifeguard on duty during all canoeing sessions.

Archery: Archery is done once each week by children in second grade and higher. Like canoeing , archery is led by trained YMCA staff with the help of the counselor. Campers are amazed at their improvement over the summer and challenge themselves to become the best marksman possible.

Ropes Course: La Lumiere School has a certified high-ropes course that the YMCA uses for our summer program. Children in second grade and higher are given the opportunity to complete both low and certain high elements of the course. The YMCA staff is ropes course certified as part of their pre-camp training.
